Empower Ministry National Lay Leadership Conference
Conference Details

The central theme and focus of this year’s conference is twofold: Spiritual Formation - and Revelation Seminars. To address both the important Biblical as well as the essential programmatic aspects of building our spirituality we are pleased to announce keynote speakers Dr. Jon Dybdahl and Dr. Jon Paulien, and the powerful and uplifting perspectives of Dr. Hyveth Williams. 

We are also offering a different format for the 2007 conference from previous Empower conferences - the key points are as follows:

* Empower 2007 will be limited to attendees who are 21 years of age or older.

* Empower 2007 will be limited to (50) attendees on a first come, first served basis.

* Empower 2007 will conclude on the evening of Sunday, September 2 instead of on the usual Monday evening as it was during previous conferences leaving Labor Day free for everyone to find personal time during this holiday weekend.

 Dr. Jon Dybdahl: Spiritual Formation

Jon Dybdahl is former president of Walla Walla College and professor of mission at Andrews University Theological Seminary. He is one of Adventism's foremost experts on the study of world mission. At the same time, he has a deep interest in personal spirituality and has devoted a great deal of time developing a spiritual formation curriculum which he taught for many years at Andrews Seminary. Many who took his spiritual formation class have experienced strong personal revivals of faith and commitment. He will be in charge of all the sessions on Sabbath during which he will take us through a spiritual formation retreat.

 Dr. Jon Paulien: Revelations Seminar

Jon Paulien is dean of the School of Religion at Loma Linda University. Previously, he taught New Testament for over 20 years at Andrews University Theological Seminary. He is the Adventist church's foremost authority on the Book of Revelation and has published extensively on the book. He has lectured on Revelation all over the world and has helped reshape and broaden the Adventist understanding on the book. On Sunday, he will guide the conference attendees through Revelation, teaching us how to read, interpret and apply its passages.

 Dr. Hyveth Williams: Concluding Message

Hyveth Williams is senior pastor of Campus Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church in Loma Linda, California. She is known for her dynamic, passionate messages that have moved the hearts of millions of people. She will give the message for the final session of the conference on Sunday evening.
